About Donkey Designs
Who we are
Donkey Designs is a small, hands-on printing and embroidery studio run by Alain and Babruska in central Haarlem. We handle every step ourselves, from helping with your design to printing or embroidering the finished product.
With our backgrounds in production and graphic design, we pay close attention to colour, proportions, placement and finishing. Since 2008, we have created personalised clothing, workwear, teamwear and gifts for businesses and individuals.
Quality always comes first. We take the time needed to make every item look right, work well and stay beautiful for as long as possible.

What we do
Printing
From subtle chest logos to colourful designs and bold back prints, we professionally print clothing, workwear, sportswear, teamwear and bags.
We select the printing technique that best suits your design, material and order quantity. This ensures sharp details, strong colours and a durable finish.
Embroidery
Embroidery gives clothing and textiles a premium, professional appearance that remains beautiful even with frequent use.
We embroider logos, names and designs on workwear, polo shirts, hoodies, jackets, caps, bags, towels and personalised gifts, all with close attention to detail.
From idea to finished product
How we work
Tell us what you need
Visit our studio or contact us with your idea. Tell us what you would like printed or embroidered, the quantity you need and your preferred size and placement.
Choose your products
Choose clothing or textiles from our showroom or catalogue. You may also supply your own items, provided the material is suitable for printing or embroidery.
Send your design
Send us your logo, text or artwork in the highest available quality. We check the file and advise you if any adjustments are needed.
Quotation and approval
You receive a clear quotation based on the products, design, placement and quantity. For larger print orders or embroidery, we also prepare a proof for approval.
Payment and production
Once the quotation is approved and payment has been received, we order the products and schedule production in our own studio in Haarlem.
Collection or delivery
We let you know as soon as your order is ready. You can collect it from our studio or have it shipped with Track & Trace.
Artwork requirements
File specifications
Good artwork helps us produce a sharp and professional result. Please send your logo or design in the highest available quality. If you are unsure whether your file is suitable, we will be happy to check it for you.
Files for printing
Vector artwork is preferred. Pixel-based artwork should be supplied at a minimum of 300 dpi at the final print size.
- Accepted formats: AI, EPS, SVG, PSD, PNG and PDF
- Use a transparent background
- Lines should be at least 0.75 mm thick
- Avoid semi-transparent effects and shadows
- Include the required size and placement
Files for embroidery
For embroidery, we prefer an AI, EPS or vector PDF file. We convert the design into a technical embroidery file before production.
- Simple, clearly defined shapes work best
- Very thin lines may need to be adjusted
- Small details may not be suitable for embroidery
- The fabric and final size affect the result
- An embroidery sample is included with the embroidery file

The prices shown in the catalogue are guide prices and exclude printing or embroidery. Your final quotation is calculated according to the product, order quantity and type of personalisation.

No appointment needed
Everything we create is produced in our own studio in Haarlem. You are welcome to visit us, view examples, see and try on clothing, or discuss your ideas.
