Frequently asked questions

Do you have a question about printing, embroidery, clothing, artwork or delivery times? Below you will find answers to our most frequently asked questions. If your question is not listed, please feel free to contact us.

Orders & quotations

How can I place an order?

Simply email us with your requirements, the type of clothing, the quantities and, if available, your logo. If you need advice, we will be happy to help. You are also welcome to visit our studio.

How does the ordering process work?

After receiving your request, we review the information and send you a no-obligation quotation. Once the quotation has been approved and any required payment has been received, we order the clothing and start production. We will contact you when your order is ready.

Can I request a no-obligation quotation?

Yes. Requesting a quotation is completely free and without obligation. Send us your requirements, quantities and logo, and we will prepare a suitable quotation.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. Whether you need one printed or embroidered item or a large order of hundreds of pieces, you are welcome at Donkey Designs.

How quickly will I receive a quotation?

We usually respond within one working day. Larger or more complex requests may take a little longer.

When do I need to pay?

For many orders, payment is required in advance. Established business customers may be able to pay after delivery in certain cases.

Can I pay after my order is completed?

Private customers usually pay in advance. Depending on the order, business customers may arrange payment afterwards.

Which payment methods do you accept?

You can pay by debit card, cash, bank transfer, iDEAL or Wero.

Can I change my order after placing it?

This is often possible provided production has not yet started. Please contact us as soon as possible.

Can I cancel my order?

You may cancel your order before production begins. If the clothing or decorations have already been ordered or produced, costs may apply.

Delivery times & shipping

How long does production take?

Our standard production time is approximately approximately 10 working days after the order and design have been approved. Larger orders or busy periods may require additional time.

Can I place a rush order?

Possibly. Contact us as soon as possible and we will check whether your required delivery date is achievable.

Can my order be shipped?

Yes. We ship throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. You can also collect your order from our studio in Haarlem.

What are the shipping costs?

Shipping costs depend on the size, weight and contents of the order. Small parcels start at €7.50, while large boxes are shipped from approximately €25.00. Our parcels are always insured.

Do you ship to Belgium?

Yes, we also ship to Belgium.

Can someone else collect my order?

Yes. Please let us know in advance who will be collecting your order.

Designs & artwork

Which file formats do you accept?

We prefer AI, EPS, PDF or SVG files. If you only have a PNG, JPG or another format, please send it to us and we will check what is possible.

Can you design a logo for me?

No, we do not design logos. If you need a new logo, we recommend contacting a graphic designer. Once your logo is ready, we will be happy to print or embroider it onto your clothing.

Can you adjust or vectorise my logo?

We can often make small adjustments, such as changing text or preparing a simple logo for production. For larger or more complex design work, we recommend contacting a graphic designer.

My logo is poor quality. Can you still use it?

If your logo is unsuitable for printing or embroidery, it is best to have it adjusted by a graphic designer. In some cases, we can prepare it for production. Additional charges may apply depending on the work required.

Can I receive a physical sample print first?

For orders of more than 50 items, we can produce a physical sample print so that you can see how the design will look on the clothing.

Can I see my logo on an image of the clothing first?

Yes. For orders of 10 items or more, we can create a digital mock-up. For smaller quantities, this may be possible by arrangement.

Printing & embroidery

What is the difference between printing and embroidery?

Printing is ideal for full-colour designs, photographs, sportswear and smaller quantities.

Embroidery creates a premium, professional and highly durable finish. It is ideal for polo shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, caps and workwear.

If you are unsure, we will be happy to advise you.

Can every item be embroidered?

Not always. Thin fabrics, sports shirts and some sleeveless garments are less suitable for embroidery. In those cases, we recommend a professional print.

Why is baby clothing usually not embroidered?

The back of the embroidery may feel uncomfortable against a baby’s sensitive skin. We therefore usually recommend a professional print for baby clothing.

Does my logo need to be converted for embroidery?

Yes. A logo must first be digitised into a special embroidery file that tells the embroidery machine how to stitch the design.

How much does an embroidery file cost?

An embroidery file usually costs between €45 and €65. The final price depends on the size and complexity of the logo.

Do you keep my embroidery file?

Yes. We keep your embroidery file for as long as Donkey Designs remains in business. This allows us to produce repeat orders without charging the digitisation fee again.

Can a logo be embroidered in multiple colours?

Yes. We can embroider logos using up to 15 different colours.

Can I have several logos applied to one garment?

Of course. For example, you can combine a chest logo, back logo and sleeve logo.

Can you print or embroider sleeves, collars and caps?

Depending on the garment, we can print or embroider sleeves and various other positions. We can print collars, but we cannot embroider them. We only embroider caps supplied by Donkey Designs.

Can you print white ink onto dark clothing?

Yes. Our professional transfer-printing technique allows us to produce bright white prints on dark clothing.

What is the maximum print size?

The maximum print size is approximately 33 × 45 cm.

What is the standard size of a chest logo?

A standard chest logo is usually between 8 and 10 cm wide. We always adjust the size to suit the logo and the garment.

Can you produce large back logos?

Yes. We can produce both large back prints and large embroidered back logos.

How long will a print remain in good condition?

With normal use and proper care, a professional print can remain in good condition for years. Its lifespan depends on how the garment is used and washed.

Is embroidery more durable than printing?

Generally, yes. Embroidery is highly resistant to wear and often lasts as long as the garment itself.

Clothing

Can I supply my own clothing?

Yes. You may supply your own clothing for printing or embroidery. We always check whether the material is suitable before starting production.

Which clothing do you recommend for workwear?

Which clothing is most suitable for sports?
